Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived in the holy city of Mecca to attend the Summit of Origination of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), as host Saudi Arabia seeks to rally support against Iran after a series of attacks that have sparked fears of a regional conflagration.
Khan, a well-known cricketer, turned to politics, becoming prime minister after his party, Tehreek-e-Insaf, won the election in 2018. Khan was the captain of the Pakistani team when they won the Cricket World Cup in 1992. Pakistan faces the West Indies in the 2019 World Cup opening bid, Friday, May 31.
